Job Opening - Senior Development Engineer, Vesuvius,  Advanced Refractories European Business Unit

                                                                                                 

Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Development Manager responsible for Taphole Clay Global Center of Excellence, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Development Engineer to join the team based in the Barlborough R&D Centre to lead Vesuvius taphole clay technology and to support new and existing market-places through innovating product development and application solutions. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

•Support the Development Manager by building up the technical expertise and application knowledge for the THC Centre, leading the global THC technological development and providing technical leadership in the field.

•Working closely with M&T and Sales functions, to identify customer needs and market opportunities and developing innovative products or solutions to meet the strategic business requirements. 

•Working closely with Operations on product formulation and process optimisation.

•Lead cross functional research projects on product development through laboratory based research and field trials

•Hands-on approach to product application and ability to provide technical solutions on product application issues or customer problems.

•Working with all of the R&D teams to deliver research projects on time.

•Build strong customer interactions and understand the customers' needs in order to provide technical solutions and value added products for existing and new customers.

 

Knowledge, experience and skills needed:

•2 years minimum working experience on taphole clay R&D research and application, or in relevant iron making refractories.  

•Significant background in refractory science, preferably in taphole clay formulation, binders and application characteristics.

•Graduate degree or equivalent in Refractories, Materials Science or similar related discipline.
